Day 24: Thirsty Dog Brewing Co. 12 Dogs of Christmas Ale
Alas, we have reached the final day in our Advent-ure calendar. Thirsty Dog Brewing is located in Akron, Ohio which isn’t too far from us. All of us have tried many of their beers, and I think overall we can agree that they make some great swill. 12 Dogs is a must-have Christmas beer for many Clevelanders every year. This beer, like many others, seems to taste a bit different each year. From the website 12 Dogs “is filled with seasonal flavors from generous amounts of honey, cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg.”

Beard & Broad
Beard: Like many a Clevelander, 12 Dogs has replaced GL Christmas Ale as my go-to when I feel like being festive with my alcolholic beverage this time of year. Great Lakes Christmas Ale will always be the quinticential holiday beer in the area, and the one that helped put this city on the map in the beer world, but 12 Dogs just has a much more consistent and balanced Christmas-y flavor to it. It could honestly be a tad more hoppy for me as I think the bitterness would be nice, but I understand that’s not what they’re going for here. They’re going for slightly spiced, malty warmth. This beer is just about perfect for the style and a great way to close out our Christmas Advent-ure.
Broad: This beer is Christmas. Its definitely one of my favorite winter beers, love it. It’s toasty, malty, full of spice and it’s so smooth. This is an absolute must-have for me during the Christmas season.

Adam: When I think Christmas beer I now think 12 dogs. It’s the absolute best mix of spices and booze. It’s Christmas AF.
Alex: Thirsty dog is one of my favorite Christmas beers. I love the mix of all of the spices and the honey. Super delicious and has been on repeat for myself this year.
