Day 5: Evil Twin Brewing Chistmas Eve At A New York City Hotel Room

Now this should be good, a Christmas beer by one of the most interesting breweries. If you don’t know the story behind Evil Twin, start by reading this article.  Beard & Broad love Evil Twin beers and are on a mission to try every one. This is another one we found in Ithaca. Broad grabbed it as soon as she read the words Evil Twin and Christmas.  After further reading the bottle we discovered it’s an Imperial Stout. In true Evil twin form, the website offers little information about their beers.

REFLECTIONS

Beard & Broad
Beard:Roasty, chocolately, bitter. Decent alcohol warmth. Christmas Eve at a New York City Hotel Room denotes a dirty, rough experience in my mind…which is kind of like this beer. I actually do enjoy it, but it’s a big beer. Great for a cold day where you plan on not doing much but drinking this beer.

Broad: We tried this at 11 am before we went wine tasting (as evidenced by our ticket in the picture). I had just finished my Dunkin Donuts coffee and I was looking forward to a pre-wine tasting Christmas beer. I was surprised how much I disliked this. I tasted no winter or Christmas flavors. All I tasted was a heavy, syrupy beer. I’m very upset about this. I thought this beer would change my thoughts on Imperial Stouts which I normally don’t like.

Adam & Alex
Adam & Alex joint thoughts: We liked it. The rare imperial stout Alex enjoyed. It was oatmeal-y and very warming.

Mez & Sam
Mez: It tasts like Krampus. Its gonna get his and do what it wants.

Sam: Strong and it has its way with my mouth.
