We are SO excited to be doing our annual holiday drinking adventure calendar for the third year in a row. We actually launched our blog with this fun idea (happy 3 year anniversary to us!) We’ve had a few different participants over the years and we’re really excited about the gang for this year. We didn’t have the chance to pick up any beers that aren’t available in Ohio this year, but we do have a great mix.
Recently Broad was in New Orleans (NOLA) for our friend Nicolette’s bachelorette weekend. Our first trip to NOLA was two years ago for a friend’s wedding. Instead of recapping one of the trips, we decided we wanted to do a “best of” post about our favorite places in the city. We stayed at a cute hotel right outside the French Quarter (unfortunately we can’t remember the name) for our first trip. Broad stayed right at Bourbon Street for this second time. Personally we would prefer to stay near the French Quarter, but if you’re into partying all day and all night then definitely stay closer to Bourbon street.
We are always on the lookout for fun, new events in Cleveland…especially if it involves beer! When we found out that the Greater Cleveland Aquarium hosts beer tastings we knew we had to go. We were especially excited for this one because the theme was Christmas ales and ciders, and with this weather it was time for some winter flavors.
We were recently invited to try the updated menu out at Rowley Inn in Tremont and we knew we couldn’t miss this opportunity. To be honest, Broad had never heard of the place but Beard had been there for work to deliver product. We knew it had kind of a divey feel, but were excited to try the food nonetheless. After all, divey is just our style.
We enjoy tailgating whether it be for pro or college football games…or really for any other event. We haven’t tailgated recently because, well, when your professional football team is the Cleveland Browns it’s hard to get excited for football games. But, we were recently invited to head to South Bend for a Notre Dame football game and to visit Beard’s family. His two cousins graduated from there and now the third cousin is a freshman at ND. We’ve never been to Notre Dame, so we jumped at the chance to check it out for a big game and also hang with family that knew the lay of the land.
When TLC Book Tours contacted us about reviewing one of their latest books, Atlas of Beer: A Globe-Trotting Journey Through the World of Beer, we were thrilled! We love to read and we read every type of book. But a book that combines travel and beer almost sounded too good to be true!
As you may have gathered from a few of our previous posts or from our social media, we’ve had a busy year. We were planning a wedding and then finally got married on July 15! Then we were off on our honeymoon. This is the main reason our posts were few and far between for most of the year. Planning the biggest day of your lives is a little time consuming and a tad stressful. We thought we’d do a post about our special day because we met and worked with some of the best vendors in the Cleveland area, and maybe we can offer some useful tips to those getting hitched in the future. Plus, you can get to know us a little better 🙂
