Day 3 of the Advent-ure Calendar

Day 3: Shipyard Brewing Company GingerBreadHead

DSC_0006

Gingerbread + Beer? Say What? In our opinion, this is either going to be very tasty or terrible. Beard is picky about strong flavors in beer and Broad either loves or hates it. Shipyard’s website states that this beer is “a cookie in every bottle.”

REFLECTIONS

Beard & Broad
Beard: Nope. Cookies aren’t made to taste like beer, beer shouldn’t be made to taste like cookies. This tastes exactly like it’s supposed to, only problem is I do not want it to taste like it’s supposed to. Do you really want to drink something that’s supposed to remain a solid? Completely hits the mark, but the mark is terrible.

Broad: I have a very complicated relationship with Gingerbread. Growing up, I hated it. Last year I rediscovered it and now I love it…most of the time. I need to be in the mood. Christmas gets me in the mood for Gingerbread. I was excited to try this beer, probably overly excited. It has good gingerbread flavor but it’s a tad too sweet for me. Overall, I enjoyed this beer but probably wouldn’t want to drink more than one.

Adam & Alex
Adam: So gingerbreadhead definitely smells like gingerbread but the taste…lacking? It tastes like cream soda to me. Way too sweet. I bet it’d make a jammin Moscow mule tho.

Alex: I would say that I did enjoy the beer but probably wouldn’t want to drink more than one. I did get the gingerbread smell more than taste.

Mez & Sam
Mez: This gingerbread beer reminds me of walking into a room where a gingerbread candle was burning. At first, I enjoy it and it’s a nice representation of the season. But after awhile, it becomes too much. Too sweet of a beer to have more than one of for me, but not bad.

Sam: Gingerbread smell smacked me in the face at first. I enjoy the first taste of the beer, but thr flavor leaves my mouth to soon. Not a bad beer though. I’d drink it again.
